Terms of Service

By using Spyzero (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
1. About Spyzero
Spyzero is a privacy-awareness and device scanning utility for iOS. It provides three on-device tools — a local-network scanner, a camera-based optical sweep, and a magnetometer-based field detector — intended to help users inspect their surroundings for devices that may warrant further attention.
Spyzero is a consumer wellness and security awareness tool. It is not a forensic instrument, professional sweep service, certified security product, or a substitute for professional technical surveillance counter-measures (TSCM).
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction) to use Spyzero. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use Spyzero on iOS devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Spyzero may offer paid features or auto-renewing subscriptions in addition to its free functionality. The following applies only if you purchase such a subscription:
- Title and length: the subscription title, duration, and price are disclosed within the App and on the App Store listing prior to purchase.
- Billing: subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew at the same price and for the same duration unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Free trials: if a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, and the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before it ends.
- Managing your subscription: you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Deletion: deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.
- Refunds: handled by Apple in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Price changes: we may update subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. Material price increases require your affirmative consent before taking effect, as required by Apple.
5. Permissions
Spyzero requests the following permissions, which can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings:
- Camera — for the optical sweep tool's live preview.
- Motion & Fitness — motion access may be required by iOS on certain devices to support magnetic-field readings used by the Magnetic tool.
- Local Network — for the Scanner to enumerate devices on your Wi-Fi.
- Bluetooth — optional, for identifying nearby Bluetooth-enabled devices broadcasting discoverable signals.
Camera frames, magnetometer samples, and network observations are processed on-device and are not transmitted to us.
Scanning only occurs while you actively use the relevant feature in the App and does not continue in the background after you leave the tool or close the App.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Spyzero only on networks and in spaces where you have a legitimate right to do so — for example, your own home, your own car, a hotel room you are occupying, an Airbnb you have rented, or another environment where you have permission. You agree not to:
- Use Spyzero to inspect or analyze networks, devices, or environments without authorization;
- Use Spyzero to harass, stalk, surveil, or invade the privacy of any person;
- Use Spyzero in any manner that violates applicable law, including computer-misuse, anti-stalking, wiretapping, or telecommunications laws;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
- Misuse, interfere with, or attempt to circumvent the App's functionality or security measures;
- Redistribute, sublicense, sell, or resell any part of the App.
You are solely responsible for your use of Spyzero and for ensuring that such use complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.
7. Detection Disclaimer
Spyzero is a heuristic tool. It is not a guaranteed detector of surveillance devices.
- The Scanner relies on devices advertising themselves on the local network. Devices that are powered off, on a separate network, or actively hiding will not appear.
- The Camera tool aids visual inspection but does not guarantee that hidden lenses will be visible to your phone's sensor.
- The Magnetic tool detects deviations from a local baseline. Many everyday objects (speakers, magnets, hard drives, structural rebar) can cause false positives, and small or shielded electronics can avoid detection.
- Severity classifications ("secure", "suspicious") are heuristic indicators, not legal or forensic conclusions.
You should not rely on Spyzero alone in situations where your safety or privacy is at serious risk. In such cases, consult a qualified professional and the appropriate authorities.
8. No Surveillance Use
Spyzero is designed to help users find devices that may be observing them, not to enable surveillance of others. Using Spyzero to facilitate the surveillance, tracking, or monitoring of any person without their lawful consent is a violation of these Terms and may violate applicable law.
9. Data and Privacy
Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell user data, and scan results, camera frames, and magnetometer samples are processed entirely on-device and are not transmitted to us.
10. Intellectual Property
All content in Spyzero — including software, design, artwork, text, icons, fonts (subject to their respective licenses), and branding — is owned by Spyzero or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without prior written permission, except as permitted by applicable law.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your license to use the App if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that harms the App, its users, or its integrity.
Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Provisions regarding intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification survive termination.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Spyzero is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or capable of detecting any specific device or signal.
- In no event shall Spyzero, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, property damage, undetected surveillance, or false positives — arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars (USD $50), whichever is greater.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Spyzero and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Spyzero is incorporated, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When material changes occur, we will notify users through the App or the App Store listing. Continued use of Spyzero after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Apple App Store — Additional Terms
The following terms apply when you access Spyzero through the Apple App Store and form part of these Terms in addition to (and where applicable supersede) the corresponding sections above:
a. Acknowledgment
These Terms are concluded between you and Spyzero only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Spyzero, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content. To the extent these Terms provide for usage rules for the App that are less restrictive than or in conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions will apply.
b. Scope of License
The license granted to you for Spyzero is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, and as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
c. Maintenance and Support
Spyzero is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App, as specified in these Terms or as required under applicable law. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the App.
d. Warranty
Spyzero is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App to you; to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be the sole responsibility of Spyzero.
e. Product Claims
You and Spyzero acknowledge that Spyzero, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims you or any third party may have relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
f. Intellectual Property Rights
You and Spyzero acknowledge that, in the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Spyzero, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
g. Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
h. Third-Party Beneficiary
You and Spyzero acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
